| About volume weight |
| International express shippings and oversize shippings are calculated the
following way: |
|
Volume weight is a formula made out of the actual weight and the weight
in relation to volume.
Example:
Parcel 1 and parcel 2 have different sizes, but both weigh 10kg (parcel
2 is split up in little parcels for illustration, but should be considered
as one).
Parcel 1: 50x50x50cm
Parcel 2: 200x100x150cm
|
 |
Calculation example:
Two kinds of weight are considered.
1, The actual weight
2, The actual weight in relation to actual volume. It follows this formula:
| Width (cm) x Depth (cm) x Height (cm) : 6000cm3 |
|
|
|
|
Example: Parcel 1
10kg, 50x50x50cm
Actual weight: 10kg
Volume weight: 50x50x50:6000=20,8
The weight attributed to the parcel is the higher one, in this case 20,8kg.
Example: Parcel 2
10kg, 200x100x150cm
Actual weight: 10kg
Volume weight: 200x100x150:6000=500
The weight attributed to the parcel is the higher one, in this case 500kg.
| The service fee is based on the actual weight, not the volume weight |

* This so called "volume weight" has been introduced by transport
companies due to the fact that in their means of transportation space tends
to be more important than weight, especially for large objects. Please
be aware of this fact when considering a shipping request.
* If there is a way to split up your freight in order to make it fit into
ordinary EMS parcels, this may be the cheaper alternative. Please be aware
of this fact when considering a shipping request.
- About estimates
*Estimates are done case by case and may not be absolutely correct. Final
judgements can only be made once the items have arrived at the transport
company.
*Please tell us if the items arrive already packed for international shipping,
or if further wrapping is necessary. Wrapping is charged seperately, and
the weight of wrapping may influence the final weight.
*There are countries and cities where door to door transport is not possible.
In this case the recipient is required to pick up the item(s) at the respective
port of entry.
